Anthony Bourdain as far as the eye can see. This was one of the famed foodies televised stops so obviously I went in. It was F*ckin awesome. Apperently Anthony's little stop even saves the business. The Pink sauce on the Columbian Hot Dog and the Mexican Dog were Da Bomb yo! Thank you Anthony you never disappoint.

This is one of those "If I could leave this place -5 stars that would be great" moments. Now, let me be clear before I start my review: If I was just rating the food, it would be a 3. Let's begin. First off, be warned: they only speak Spanish. This wasn't a problem for me, seeing as I'm Cuban...but since Miami Beach is a "touristy" area, I thought that was worth mentioning. I was visiting my family in Miami and we were all at my brother's house on the beach. Everyone agreed that we wanted to get some food from here, BUT, we are all huge sauce-lovers. So I ordered via Eat24, being VERY specific about the sauces I wanted. No matter how precise I had explained it, I called to make sure they received our order properly. The man on the phone was instantly confused by the idea of me wanting extra sauce and put on the female manager. She said that she could do it for me, for an additional $7 charge. I figured that made sense, and told her that was okay. When the food arrived, there were no extra sauces. They only put extra ketchup. Obviously I was upset, so I called letting them know that we hadn't received the sauces. Long story short, the lady told me she put the ketchup in there and that that was what I paid for. It ended in her calling me STUPID and yelling at me. I promise I did nothing but tell her "I would like my $7 back, because the sauces I paid for are not here." What a low class, self-entitled business. Food isn't great, service is ABSOLUTE garbage....there is nothing worth trying about this place. And to the manager who won't understand this even if she read it, you should be ashamed of yourself. I've never said this in a review, but you truly deserve to lose your job for how you degraded me for no reason. I'd rather eat nothing but raw hotdogs for the rest of my life than give this place another dime.

What can I say about this place... Anthony Bourdain ate here and my god I knew what this place was before all of the posters. Frankly (see what I did there, food pun) I figured Bourdain was full of it, but I got to say he was 100% right the food is amazing. I'm not the biggest hot dog fan in the world and I'm used to Disney which charges a ton for a tiny wiener covered in cheap toppings. But this food is worth every penny, in fact I felt like I got more for my dollar then I was expecting. The girl who worked there was very nice, may have been a language gap but she went out of her way to show me how to properly eat this dog without looking like the tourist I was. Next time ceviche for me please, but for anyone who is going in for the first time you will not be disappointed.

Had to stop because we saw it featured on 'The Layover' starring Anthony Bourdain. The girl behind the counter was very friendly regardless of the massive language barrier. I got the Colombian- a must do if you ever find yourself on Collins Ave in Miami! The hotdogs are massive and covered with the most out there premium toppings, only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because the server was a bit pushy trying to get us to order additional food. But not at all a reason to stay away.

Place smells way too much! Is even hard to stay inside. My boyfriend was having a hard time with his eyes because the smoke or something inside the actual place makes your eyes water. I got the Venezuelan and he got the Chinese both were just good. The hot dog that they use is good and flavorful. Is nice that Anthony burdain went there and everything but nothing to go crazy for to be honest. The servers were nice little rushers cause we couldn't decide which one we wanted and they were in more rush than us but they were nice in the end. I like the place but maybe I had higher expectations.

Really excellent taste and variety. The sausages themselves obviously play second fiddle to the toppings, but I was okay with that. Limited seating, but we came in at 1pm on a sunny Sunday in September and we were the only customers at first (more came as we ate). The staff, especially Edgar himself, are super smiley, helpful, and friendly.

The owner really needs to stop promoting Anthony Bourdain- that was in 2012!! I'm Colombian and live in Houston so I expected a great hot dog but unfortunately it was very plain/normal and prefer the Colombian hotdogs in my H!

Ohh Edgar Edgar Edgar, I love and hate you at the same time! Your food and prices are great but your delivery and customer service are not great. 90% of my orders are always incorrect especially when it comes to your sauces. I ask for them you forget, I pay for them ($7.00) you forget. It's very frustrating wish you could change the female manager that screams at me and calls me stupid when I tell her she forgot my $7 sauces. Until you change that customer service I will hold my urge for your delicious hotdogs.

First time here. I noticed 2 things. They had pictures, posters, flyers, and even the tv all with that guy from the travel channel. I mean, just a personal opinion, but to me, it was just too much of that. I took it as ,"Look who was here! And you're gonna know and we're gonna shove it in your face!" Lol I mean, I'm not hating and I wish them good, but it was literally all over the place. I wonder if they had it in the toilet seat. And 2nd, I noticed that the menu was all over the place too. It's like the whole restaurant was a menu itself. No matter where you looked, it was either the travel channel guy, or part of the menu saying "Chinese hot dog $6.99" which I understand. Hey its their style. Just my opinion. Now here comes the important part. What I ordered was a chicken burrito and a can of coca cola. It all came out to $10.62 + $2 tip = $12.62 total. It took about 10-15min to get my food. And honestly the burrito was ok I guess. I mean it was a chicken burrito but it had everything else but chicken. At least that's how it tastes. Very little chicken, lots of rice, salad, sauce, etc. And for me, I found that paying a total $12 for a burrito and a canned soda, for that quality, was too expensive. I'm not gonna sit here and promote other spots on here, but yea, I've paid less for much bigger burrito and more meat too. So to me, it wasn't worth it. Is it worth coming back? Maybe., I would taste something else. I don't think I would ever order another burrito from here. The place was clean and the cashier was nice.

I've passed this place many times and have been wanting to try it. I came with my daughter last night and had a great experience. First of all, the lady at the counter, Camila, was super nice and helpful. On her recommendation I ordered the Spanish, which from an American view of hot dogs is oh so weird, but oh so good. I also ordered a lulo juice. My daughter didn't like the lulo juice, but I did. My daughter ordered a regular hot dog (she's not into toppings yet) and a banana juice. The place was clean. The prices for the hot dogs range from about $5.50 to $7.50, which is just a tad high, but acceptable since one is a meal. We were the only ones there and it took almost ten minutes to get our order.

    (4)
  • David C.

The hot dogs weren't anything special. It's just regular hot dogs with regular and some weird ingredients. Tasted alright.

There are very few times in life I get the opportunity of coming to Miami Florida, and when that opportunity comes this is the place to visit, (La Perrada De Edgar) is one of the best hot dogs in the area, and many many choices to chose from. The hot dogs are named after countries and city locations all around the world. Very very flavorful and delicious and not too expensive. Enjoy it while you can!

  • Andrew E.

I was back in Miami for the first time in years and craving a Colombian hot dog, so I checked out La Perrada de Edgar. They have an impressively large menu with a ton of different hot dog choices, all laden with numerous toppings. I got my Colombian hot dog which was large, filling, tasty, and reasonably priced. Also had a empanada that was a little chewy but stuffed with tasty filling and hit the spot. The lemonade was awesome. Decor is on the touristy side, with pictures and signs proudly touting Anthony Bourdain's visit. Edgar was super friendly and helpful, and prepared our hot dogs on the spot. Definitely worth a visit if you're on Miami Beach and want a cheap meal that will leave you satisfied.

I liked this place. They have tons and tons of hot dog combinations and other items like chicken wings, arepas, etc. I had their chorizo dog and their Philippine dog. I can't remember everything that was on each of them, but both were very tasty. The meat used at this place is quite tasty. My wife got an arepa and it was very well prepared as well. The ownership is very friendly and accommodating (even with limited English). Prices are perhaps a tad on the high side here, but not excessively so. It's a nice little find in the area and I would recommend a visit.

I've had a bunch of Colombian hot dogs from all types of different Colombian joints and the dogs from La Perrada are REAL deal Colombian hot dogs. The fillers are not what you taste. You actually get a chunk of hotdog in every bite. The sauces and potato chips compliments the dog and doesn't over power it like other places. If you are in the area stop by and get in perro colombiano!

    (4)
  • Michelle H.

Definitely unique. Tried the Spanish, chorizo, and columbian. Plus they have loads of other really unique flavors like Japanese, Chinese, venezolano, Uruguay, etc. So here's the dish: the combinations of toppings are delicious, unique, and in my opinion, the only reason you should come here. The hot dog itself is ok. Without the toppings it's just a commercial hot dog. But don't underestimate it just cus the dog is ok, because the topping combos are REALLY phenomenal and a REAL must try!!! The Spanish was my favorite: hard boiled eggs, white sauce, pink sauce, some weird cilantro sauce, pineapple sauce, bacon bits, loads of potato chip flakes. Lol, lemme tell ya, my brother hates hot dogs.. He loved this one. Colombian is a watered down version of Spanish, and the chorizo is a columbian made with a chorizo instead of a wiener. I personally like the wiener better than the chorizo tho with the toppings, and would recommend Columbian and Spanish over chorizo. Over all very yummy, super unique, fast service, I'm satisfied but dogs ain't all that great. You gotta try it tho. It's one of those things that are epic.

Los perros aquí son una delicia. I love these hot dogs. I always get the Venezolano with a lulo batido. I love it every time. I really want to try to edgar special but they are always out of shrimp. O well, I understand. Next time :). I actually like that, because well it keeps me coming back for more and more and more and more. This place is unique too, in the fact that unlike most places that have been christened by the travel network or the food channel and their celebrity chefs, this place has stayed true to its original model unchaining and going steady. The prices have stayed the same and the quality of the product has only increased. To knock it out of the park, Edgar is always around and always friendly and makes small talk with everyone. Furthermore the beautiful chica behind the register is always sweet and attentive. I have a crush on her too, hopefully she doesn't read this, cuz thats embarrassing but I'm putting it out there to let you all know that the service is sweet and top notch. Like I don't want to go to a restaurant and have some fat slob serve me, but a pretty, pleasant girl who is sweet and not evil and gross like the plastic surgery barbies of sobe. If your in North Beach, go. Its great. they even have a veggie option. :)

Excellent! One of the best hot dogs I've ever had. Saw this place on Anthony bourdain's show and had to try it. You can tell a lot of locals come here on break. I ordered the Swiss hot dog and it was the perfect combination of everything. The bun wasn't soggy and the hot dog was great! Recommend this place when traveling to south Florida.

  • Ari S.

I love Anthony Bourdain but he messed up with this recommendation! This is not a real Colombian hotdog. Please don't think others are the same. Even worse is that he has a million other varieties that are/look disgusting. Generators concentrate on making a good/authentic Colombian hotdog. Sorry for the harsh review.

My favorite hot dog place. I havent tried the rest of the menu but i love the variety of hot dogs that they offer. They are just different and tasty. I tried the colombian and the venezolano and they were outstanding. Its a must go if you enjoy hot dogs

I cannot begin to explain to you all how amazing the ceviche I just had was. I've passed by this place a hundred times but it never provoked me because I thought they were just a hot dog place. Boy, was I wrong. I went out on a limb to order snail ceviche from somewhere that I have never eaten at nor did I think it was their specialty. I have so much respect for them right now. Truly the best ceviche I have ever had. By the way, I eat ceviche ALL the time! #CevicheIsTheNewSushi. The size was great, the hearty load of FRESH shrimp, octopus, squid, fish, and SNAIL all in a tomato based Caribbean sauce with like and onions. I cannot describe how perfect it tasted I wish they would've thrown in some more crackers, but honestly it didn't even need it. I can't wait to try all their different types of dogs which actually look very gastropubby (especially the Japanese one) I honestly would order from here because if they got such a difficult eater to praise a difficult menu item like this, then they really really won my trust. By the way, you can online order from eat24 and browse their menu as long as you want. They deliver super late when no one else does! They brought it very quick, called me to confirm very politely, and didn't call me lost and annoying (I get that a lot). They nailed it. This place is gold. I'm eating here tomorrow and the day after too. HUGE FAN

Food was good but the customer service was horrible! They charged us $7.50 for extra sauces(each extra sauce was 50¢). When we got our order, we only got 4 sauces. When we called to let them know, a lady answered claiming to be the manager said that she packed the sauces herself. I told her that we didn't have $7.50 worth of sauces to which she became super rude, calling me stupid that I couldn't add. Clearly 4 sauces at 50¢ each does not add up to $7.50. When we called again, the same lady picked up (the one claiming to be the manager) and she told us we would get called back by a manager. No phone call was ever received and they basically stole $7.50 from us. We ordered from here all the time, but after what happened and being insulted, we will no longer order from here until their customer service gets better. Sorry Edgar, you have great food but I will not take the insults from your staff. I'm giving them 3 stars just because the food is good. If customer service was better then I would of given them more stars.

I liked this place a lot, they were really friendly which is always an added bonus. Its casual and tasty. I had the arepa w/ chicken, steak and sausage...it was really good. Hubby's hot dogs were good too, and the LO had some cut up hot dog potato and hard-boiled egg dish which was surprisingly delish. Anyway I like the arepa here better than at La Moon..the texture is better, idk. I would def come back.

Love the variety and the taste is the best! And the price... You will not find those in Miami. The mis of all flavors in the bun was perfect! Looking forward to come back soon and try more!!!!!

The only reason why I am giving this place 3 stars is because they have really great hot dogs. Their colombian hot dog is great.. But I wouldn't recommend ordering anything else other than that from them.. I really love colombian empanadas.. But theirs were exxxxtremely greasy that the entire bag was soaked and still dripping through the paper and plastic bag all over my hands. I also requested lime and the traditional colombian hot sauce (Aji Picante) and they didn't give me any lime and just a side of nasty salsa that you could tell came from a can. - Again: I guess this place is only known for their hot dogs..\ I also ordered their wings which were just as greasy as the empanadas, but I should have expected that along with the fact that I also noticed that they serve their wings with a side of ketchup.. Im still laughing about that.. They may as well serve steak at there establishment with a side of ketchup as well, while they are at it.. The restaurant really needs to adjust their fryers to the correct temperature if they want to have fried food listed on their menu.. All I can say is that at least my hot dog and soda was good..

Fantastic place in Miami.. Edgar came out an introduced himself, and suggested we try the Spanish and the Edgar Special. I thought the Special was great, but the Spanish was really, really good. Great mix of ingredients, never thought I would like pineapple bacon and egg on a hot dog. I'm looking forward to going back to try some of the other combinations. Definitely try this place out if you are ever in North Beach.

Worst service ever, in a not busy time i ordered two hot dogs, 30 mins later they brought me just one hot dog to the table, 10 minutes later i went to the cashier and asked for the other hot dog and he forgot about it. after that i though that anything would happen and i ordered one more hot dog after 20 Minutes waiting i went to the cashier again and asked for my food , guess what THE CASHIER FORGOT THE ORDER AGAIN!! I asked for my money and ran away for that place!!! Never again!!!!

Highly disappointed with this place. We wanted to check this spot out. We landed in Miami and this was our first stop. Due to all the Anthony Bourdain hype and the fact that authentic Colombian hot dogs are so good we were very excited to try this place out. We arrived around 10pm. The two guys seamed so clueless. We tried the Spain hotdog, Colombian, Salchipapas...Shrimp ceviche and regular ceviche. I wasn't impressed by the quality of the ingredients used. A place that specializes in Hotdogs should use top quality hotdogs, buns and toppings! These tastes like what you would get at a gas station. The shrimp ceviche was very good. Everything else was mediocre at best. The service was a joke, I will not be coming back!

Absolutely love this spot! Hot dogs are nothing short of amazing! Since my husband and I travel to South Florida 2-4 times a year, we always make it our business to stop by Edgar's every visit. Edgar is the kindest man with a very warm heart who truly loves to simply watch people enjoy his hot dog creations. Finally had the Super Edgar back in February. The best, most memorable one yet!! This is a must-do if you're visiting the South Florida area!

I had been wanting to go to this place for quite some time. Finally the stars aligned to make it so. A friend of mine was staying at the beach for her birthday and invited me to go. I had to park about 5 blocks away from the hotel she was staying at. Now, fast forward to earlier that morning. My sister and I were watching the Anthony Bourdain episode of the Layoff where he is in Miami and visits the beach institution. My visit was just meant to happen since coincidentally the closest parking I could find was right behind the shop. Having the sweet tooth that I do, I obviously went for the Edgar special which comes with a hot dog, melted mozzerella cheese, pineapple, blackberries, plums, and whipped cream. Yes, yes I know what you're thinking , "Ewwwww". No, you're wrong. Not Eww.....SPECIAL. It's perfect actually. Trust me & try it. Edgar saw how much of a difficulty I was having eating this creation so he taught me a little trick. Should I let you guys in? Fine.....why not? The trick is to not pick the hot dog up out of the basket but instead eat it with the tip just hanging out of the basket as to not have all the contents drop out. I cannot wait to go back and try all the other different hot dogs. Oh, I also noticed a much lesser colombian hot dog chain right across the street. If you think "Oh, it's the same thing." Again, you're wrong again. Go to La Perrada instead.

Weak. Chicago hot dog was not a poppyseed roll, and worse, at catch up on. Colombian hotdogs were nowhere near what is served at La Moon. Worst of all, all three hotdogs arrived cool, not even warm.

I will be honest, the stars are mostly for the experience. You walk into this little shop in a strip mall and you are greeted by sweet old Edgar, who is quite talkative and extremely nice. You then receive quite possibly one of the strangest hot dogs you will ever eat in your life. Mine had banana peppers, jam, whipped cream and fruit syrup on it, and then you'll be on your merry way. It's such a storybook experience, even with bronchitis and horrible menstrual cramps I was happy for a moment. The hot dog is another story though. I could definitely see its appeal, and I could also see a reasonable amount of people actually liking the blend of salty, sweet and spicy, but that doggie was just too much for me. I'd go back though. Try something else maybe.

Its amazing!!!! My only complaint is that there isn't one in Tallahassee!! I would have loved to try each and every dog on the menu. We had the Columbian which was delish!

It is true what many reviews say, this place is very underrated and for sure a hidden gem. The hot dogs are DELICIOUS!! I have tried the colombian, the spanish (my favorite) and the chilean, and they are all sooo good. These hot dogs remind me of the ones from my country because they actually are! Edgar the owner is from my hometown of Bogota and my mom even remembered eating in his restaurant back in Bogota, so you know this place is authentic. Edgar is such a sweetheart and really knows how to treat customers.

Went there twice it was 12:30. Pm and it was not open. It showed the OPEN but the door was locked. Please honor your opening times As a business owner you should be more careful. I counted at least 5 customers trying to open the door to come in to your restaurant. They waited for minutes then left. Losing Revenue. The owner is banking on having Anthony Bourdain picture in the front door but is no good if this place is not open. Very disappointing.

  • Jimbo Q.

We ordered for delivery and the order took almost 2 hours to arrive, and was actually out the door for nearly an hour just to travel two blocks. a large portion of the order was either left off and did not arrive or was the wrong item. On top of all that the food was all mostly mediocre to gross. And then last but certainly not least the arepas I ate gave me food poisoning the next day and had me really sick for several days. try at your own risk. the worst. the. worst.

Everything was terrible. I ordered one thing from them a classic burrito and it took them two hours to deliver it and messed up my order. I took a bite of my cold burrito which was filled mostly with lettuce. So dissapointed

When you eat @ a place where unorthodox hot dogs are served, the place turns magical, but when you discover that the place is a Christ-centered business, the place becomes a spiritual experience! I visited this mom&pop restaurant for the 1st time a few days ago and was delighted by the overall experience! Forget La Moon in Brickell or Franktitude in Doral, THIS IS the place for "the Best" Colombian hot dog in South FLA. Not only did I liked the music played, but it has a great customer service and is only a short distance from the beach. Unfortunately, this place has only 1 loc., but surely it's worth the trip. I'm sold!

  • Jesus R.

I'm not a big hot-dog guy, so I can't rate it higher, but the dogs were plenty good and Edgar is such a nice man. He'll sit down there and talk to you for hours if it weren't for the constant barrage of customers. Every five years or so I get a craving for a dog, and I'll return here then.

Like many people, I first heard about this place on Anthony Bourdain's show. The moment you walk in the door you realize how proud they are of that fact. There are numerous posters hanging with Anthony Bourdain visiting the shop. On top of that they even have a television that runs a continuous loop of just the segment from the hour episode in which Bourdain was here. But hey, that's fine with me. I enjoy Bourdain's books and shows and I always try to visit places he has recommended. I have to say that this was the first time I ever got in a car and drove a long distance for a hot dog. In fact, it was about a 35 minute drive just to get this hotdog. I was happy to be with a friend because that allowed me to try more dogs. Between us we ordered three. The dogs are hidden beneath layers of sauces and toppings. I'd say the overall fast was pretty good, maybe three stars, but the overall experience of having a hot dog like this clearly deserves some credit too. Hence the 4 star rating. The owner was there and very friendly; continuously talking to me in spanish despite knowing I couldn't understand him. The girl behind the counter was very friendly too. I came in asking what toppings were on each dog. By the third one she pointed me in the direction of a massive sign behind me that told specifically what was on each hot dog, but she was kind enough not to bite my head off or point me in that direction until I had asked about so many. My favorite was the Spanish dog with sausage, mozzarella, corn, bacon, egg and more.

This place is soooo good and very inexpensive. The hot dogs are huge and full of flavor. The sauces are outstanding and the crushed potato chips are a very nice touch. You definitely don't feel like you are eating an ordinary hot dog at this place. Edgar prepares each dog by hand with so much care and love. He's so friendly and makes some killer hot dogs. I highly recommend this place if you haven't already tried it.

I was really debating on whether to rate this restaurant two or three stars. Nothing was really horrible, but nothing stood out as anything I'd ever like to order again. It was really just a very bland experience. To their defense, I am a die-hard La Moon fan when it comes to Colombian perros. I've gone all over Miami looking for something that rivals or beats La Moon, however have yet to find anything. To have a fair shot, we decided to order two of Edgar's more "normal" perros: the regular colombian and the chori-perro. The colombian dog was a huge frank, but very american in taste. The toppings were scant, with a dill mayo sauce on both dogs that turned me off. The chori-perro had good flavor in the actual chorizo, but again the toppings were very bland, except for the strong dill mayo which really ruined it for me. We may come again to try some of their more "exotic" creations, but I don't have high hopes after tasting the traditional offerings.

Holy cow, now that's a hot dog... and I don't even like hot dogs! My husband heard about this place on the Anthony Bourdain show and we decided to go here for lunch today... we are talking massive hot dogs with fresh buns and all the helpings. He ordered the Colombian (who knew sprinkled chips would be good on hot dogs??) and I had the Chilean (avocado, mayo, sauerkraut, YUM!). Also had the maracuya smoothie and felt like I was in Lima again... sigh :) They're in North Beach (Collins and 71st) so if you're in the area go! Shoot, even if you're not in the area and have a hot dog craving (happening to me right now as I'm writing this review) you should still go.

The food is so good that I am learning to deal with the inconsistency in hours. I hadn't had a hot dog in at least 15 years ..they always give me indigestion!! These were no exception. but worth every incredible bite!

Edgar's is the 5 star version, authentic version of Los Perros! Edgar's carries a billion hot dog combinations that you would never even imagine. There is a reason why Anthony Bourdain went to Edgar's while he was in Miami- Edgar himself plus his amazing hospitality and cooking are the reason. Edgar is the sweetest old man you have ever met in your life, and he always remembers whatever you ordered the last time you were there. If you want a genuine Colombian hot dog while in Miami, go to Edgars. I recommended their macito which is corn covered in lots of cheese, yummy pineapple sauce, and potato chips and all of the hotdogs are amazing so you can never go wrong.

In from out of town looking for a place for a quick bite to eat. Saw this place on Anthony Bourdain's show and thought why not? The place is on N. Miami Beach, which has available parking meter spaces on the streets. Feels safe to walk around unlike SoBe. The owner was serving up the dog and very friendly. Like the other yelpers mentioned, there's a flatscreen TV playing the Anthony Bourdain's show on a continuously. The place was clean and easy to find. Order the Columbian dog and it was good. Not out of this world good but good. Wanted a soda but only had Columbian soda. Now, the Columbian soda is my favorite than my Mexican Coca Cola. It wasn't too sweet or gasy. I noticed a bunch of hot dog places in Miami. What's up with that?

Good but not great. The service is very friendly. Maybe I just prefer my hot dogs the traditional way.

I have been living in Miami for 3 years and have been meaning to stop in ever since I saw the place on Anthony Bourdain's show "The Layover." There are a ton of food options beyond Hot Dogs, but I don't know how you would come in here and not get a Hot Dog... I tried the "Spanish" Hot Dog which was delicious. With one hot dog you will be completely stuffed but I wanted to try the "Edgar Special" as it was one of the ones I saw on the show and comes topped with fruit and whipped cream. Sounds disgusting, I know but I actually really enjoyed it. Don't come here expecting anything gourmet. Come here expecting some great hot dogs with some unique toppings. Great after a day at the beach...

I came back to Miami for New Years and had to come back for the Colombian hot dog and lemonade! This time my trip was a lot different. I was single and traveled with 6 girls and 1 gay friend (none of whom are Colombian), I wasn't staying at the Eden Roc, but stayed at the Kent Hotel on 11th and Washington, and I didn't have a rental car. So what did I do? I had my friends BIKE all the way from 11th and Washington to La Perrada de Edgar just for the Colombian hot dogs! The 70+ block bike ride was well worth it and I would do it again! We also ordered wings this time and it was soooo good! The owner didn't remember me, but he talked to me as if I were family and gave me a baked good for free and said that "it is from the heart." My friends were so happy I took them here and loved the owner's hospitality.

I can't believe I'd never come across this place before. My husband and I were actually watching The Layover and made note of the hot dog joint at the beach. We've been there twice now and have had great experiences both times. We tried the Swiss, the Venezuelan, and our friend tried the Mexican. Everyone agreed that one dog was enough but we were all craving a second. Another couple that was with us tried the ceviche (one large helping, about a pound or so) and were pleased with it. But I'd definitely go for the hot dogs. The only dish we weren't so crazy about was the "salchipapas", which really kind of felt like it was missing something. Everything else was great and I can see us going back to try their other menu items.

I'm not a big hot dog fan, but I wandered into this place by accident to find out that its a foodie destination now. I live about 2 blocks away. The columbian hot dog was awesome, interesting, and unique. We also got some Arepas, which were good as well.

I've been eating at La Perrada De Edgar for at least the last 7 years. I've seen other Colombian hotdog places come and go and none of them ever matching the essence of the "true" style in Colombian hotdogs. Even neighboring locations offer substandard fare, often flavorless or overcooked. La Perrada De Edgar is always fresh. They offer a consistent extension of the basic Colombian hotdog theme all the while still delivering the goods. I recommend the Colombian, the Hawaiian, and the Roman hotdogs as staples. It isn't a place where you can go wrong unless you expect something completely different. I'm definitely a fan.

    The best Miami's Hotdogs!!!

This place is definitely WAY underrated. Some of the best hot dogs I've ever had and a must eat if in the south beach area. The hot dog and the bun are alone amazing, but with the addition of some really creative ingredients = game changing. All dogs were huge and around $5. Service was excellent. What we ordered: Venezuelan Dog bun, sausage, mozzarella cheese, coleslaw potato sticks - sauces - mayonnaise, ketchup Chilean Dog Bun, sausage, guacamole, fresh tomatoes, sauerkraut sauces: mayonnaise Spanish Dog - Our favorite! bun, sausage, mozzarella cheese, bacon, egg potato sticks - sauces: fry sauce and pineapple Edgar Special Dog bun, sausage, mozzarella cheese, pineapple, peach plum - sauces: wiped cream Absolutely DELICIOUS!!

The swiss, The colombian, The venezuelan, The hawaiian, The mexican, The greek and so on ...... even the arepas and the lemonade are great. Mr Edgar and wife are a beautiful couple, really attentive! Most go places if visiting Miami Beach.

It's hit or miss with Edgar. My favorite dog is the Super Edgar which has crab and shrimp but he never has the ingredients to make it. The Super Edgar is definitely the best dog I've ever had in my life so I've been craving it ever since I've had it. I have tried some others but the only other one that stood out for me was the Mexican. Yum! Overall, a very interesting place. You can tell that the owner really takes pride in what he does.

It's a must when in this side of North Miami Beach. Great Colombian perros of all kinds, and I mean "of ALL kinds". They also do have other menu items like ceviche, arepas, etc. Service could be slow, and be ready for an overdose of Anthony Bourdain's episode of that Miami layover when he visited. I LOVE Anthony, but my friend Edgar might be spending too much time selling you anthony instead of bettering his service.

I love hot dogs, one day I was passing by and saw the pictures they have at the door and my mouth was melting, I like pineapple so I ordered a hot dog w a pineapple sauce I couldn't eat it the sausage was like raw bad bad experience. (and it was not the combination of the sausage w the pineapple after that experience I went to a Colombian place and had the same it was delicious)

After a late night and no breakfast, I needed a quick lunch while on the way to my sisters house. Originally, I thought of all the usual suspects - publix, subway, etc ... but the flashy sign at La Perrada caught my eye! The woman at the counter only spoke spanish which usually means it's going to be a super authentic meal. I informed her in broken spanish that I wanted their best items. Being allergic to the ones she recommended, I settled on a quesadilla and arepa. Either I made horrible choices or the place just isn't up to par. After reading other reviews I realized I probably should have had a hot dog ... all in all, this was the worst arepa I have ever had and while I cannot say that this review applies to every item - I would try a hot dog or just skip it altogether.

Underrated and unappreciated. This place is a gem, and I'm surprised that it is not better known in Miami. Granted this city is not renown for its hot dogs... well, with the except of those sketchy "bowel mover" hot dog vendors in downtown. Edgar's is a small mom and pop place that sells eccentric and creative dogs of all varieties. Most of the dog styles delineate from Latin America, and usually have topping reflecting their respective country. But don't get too adventurous because one $5 dog will certainly fill you up for hours. I have introduced many people to Edgar's and have never heard a bad comment about this place. Edgar is typically there and will always served your hot dog quickly with a smile and enthusiasm. Most of the time he won't charge you until you are done and satisfied with your dog. Although his English is a little rough, he is certainly capable of delivering excellent service. This place is classic joint, and naturally blends old world Latin American values with unique, delicious, and cheap dogs. Highly recommend.

Was hungry and realized I need to eat before going out for a shoot that'd last until 5am so I found this spot. Nothing special. I got the Columbian dog and it was OK. The bread was nice and soft but otherwise it was just OK. I'd prefer any Mission Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog vendor personally (from San Francisco) than this place. It's not really bad, but after I ordered a couple came in and was all psyched that Anthony Bourdain ate here. Not sure if he liked it or if he just ate there, but that's not a reason to go. Service was also slow (but it was a bit later and there were only four of us in the place, and three employees). I had to actually just leave my cash on the table since the employees were just chatting with each other...

Ok ok. This one I was really excited about. 21 different hot dog types. 21! I like a good dog so I was ready for it. Tiny place on Collins. Looks like a quickie pizza joint... Which it basically is cause they have pizza too. Ok.. The 21 dogs are, from what I could tell, all the same dog with different toppings. This was a bummer since the dog was a nitrate bomb! Spanish dog, for example, has egg and bacon, don't ask me why, with potato chips on it. English had some other stuff, etc... We also ordered the sweet corn. Heaping pile of corn, cheese, some sauce and crushed potato chips. I mean heaping! It was not good. The guy came out and asked specifically how the corn was and I pretended my mouth was full. I did gesture positively though... So that's a lie. 2 dogs, 2 waters and that crazy sweet corn... $17. Not bad. Very nice people. Don't take a date there.

Saw this place on TV show with Anthony Bourdane (sp?) and was excited to try it. I have to say it was an experience. Its hotdogs- covered in strange toppings. Worth a try.

Don't come here for sandwiches. Don't expect Colombian burgers - it's not here. Don't look for anything else but HOT DOGS. But not Chicago style, not New York style, but frivolous Colombian-style dogs! La Perrada de Edgar is another one of those imports from Colombia in the ever-growing Colombian scene in Miami! Really famous in Bogota, the owner is seeking to stake the same fame in the United States, and righteously so. The toppings here are so weird, so out-of-the-world, and yet so good that it would make you wonder ... "HOW in the HECK did they THINK this mishmash was going to be this GOOD?!" Throw away the by-gone eras of the chili dogs. Even Miami's new and trendier Dogma Grill and Frankitude can't even really compare in terms of the variety or the weird factor. Take this... the Edgar Special - the thick hot dog (much thicker than Dogma Grill and Frankitude - so this in itself is already a bargain) is topped with pineapple, peach, plum, and whipped cream! Ice cream sundae anyone? Maybe sans the ice cream, but heck, I felt I just had the healthiest hot dog yet so far - but that may be because I've been needing to eat more fruits. But SERIOUSLY, try it out! And all the hot dogs are less than $5. Note: They do have sandwiches, salads, and even quesadillas, but the place is really all about the dogs! Weirdness Factor (Variety of Toppings): 5 Stars Quality: 3.5 Stars

Came in here after I landed in Miami and needed some late night grub... being that I came in from the West Coast, it was about dinner time for me. Saw this place on Bourdain's show, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Edgar, the owner, was really friendly and cool... he explained the whole process to me and gave me some recommendations on what to eat. The food was real good... not the best hot dog I've had, but better than most. The ceviche was awesome. Would love to come back here again if in town.

As good as it gets!!!!!! Crazy toppings that will take your taste buds to the next level! Colombian, Swiss, Spanish, Mexican, with shrimp with whip cream! you name it they have it! Best hot dogs I've tried! If you have the chance to stop by this place don't forget to have their ceviche or back to life! Natural Juices, crazy stuff! Best hot dog/ceviche/natural juices/ETC!!!

the corn here was awesome!!!! loved it...hot dog wasn't my favorite, although the bread is probably the best i've ever had on a colombian hot dog. i think for the dogs, mao is still the best. corn has to go to this place though, i was fighting my husband for the last kernels (yes, pathetic) adorable man behind the counter INSISTED we have an empanada, and I am so glad he did because it was outstanding. different from the ones i am used to and quite heavenly. crunchy and meaty!

Empana was terrific, hotdog colombiano was okay, didnt even had the pineapple sauce, the arepa definetly not the best ive eaten.

Hot dogs with quail eggs. Need I say more? Cheap dogs, lots of calories...er...toppings, probably to draw attention away from the dubious contents of the dog itself. But it worked for me. Apparently, Roma, France, England, and Turkey all have adopted their own official hot dog toppings which can be sampled here. Mmmmm! A great lunch stop when you're not in over-the-top-dramatic-Miami-fashion-model mode.

if you're lucky, they might be making the colombian empanadas (fried outside, meat and potato inside) and pan de bono fresh large selection of hot dogs (very interesting choices), but still think I've had better elsewhere in terms of the additives and sauces (i had the edgar with shrimp and crab)
